Did you set goals for 2020?
Unfortunately, whatever goals you set, life got in the way. You may be reluctant to set goals for 2021.
If you’re thinking “why bother about goals?” here are some reasons:
- You can’t hit a target if you don’t aim. Your shot may be way off the target (or the target may disappear) but you aimed, and you learn from that;
- You’re in charge of you. Read Kipling’s wonderful poem, If, and memorize the lines: “If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster / And treat those two impostors just the same…” We’ll always have challenges. As the saying goes, It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game…
- Setting goals helps you to not only know yourself, but also to trust yourself. Prayer will help;
- You’re setting a good example for your children. Model goal setting for them. It’s a vital life skill. In today’s world, modeling courage for your children is vital too.
Set goals for the new year now
Why set goals for 2021 now?
It’s the start of November. In your family life, you’re preparing for the upcoming holidays. Depending on where you live, you may be expecting a holiday season that’s very different from last year.
In your work and business life, you’re readying holiday sales. Or perhaps you aren’t. Perhaps you were laid off, or your business is struggling.
Either way, set goals. Then work to achieve them.
Set goals for yourself and your business life
Create your goals today. Then create plans.
Feeling unmotivated? Set goals, then do one small thing a day achieve them. The “small thing” can be as simple as researching something, or sending an email message.
Each day, tell yourself you only have to do one thing. A few days of this and your motivation will build. Try it.
